Attendance

Call the attendance line the morning of the absence. Be prepared to give the following:

• Date of absence
• Student's name
• Student ID#
• Grade
• Reason for absence
• Your relationship to the student

If your child will be late to school in the morning, please do one of the following to excuse them when checking in at the attendance office:

• Call before your student arrives (put attendance line number in your cell phone: 925-426-9701) 
• Send a signed and dated note with your student or
• Come to the attendance office with your student to sign them in

Reminder: Parents/Guardians must sign their student out in the attendance office. Students are not permitted to leave campus on their own. 

Please be sure to bring your valid ID when signing out your student.

In keeping with our school policy to avoid interrupting instructional time, we are unable to deliver messages or forgotten items to students during class.

If your child forgets something at home, items may be dropped off outside the Main Office on the Forgotten Items rack. Please be sure the item is clearly labeled with the student’s full name.

Students will not be called out of class to retrieve items. It is their responsibility to check the rack between classes, during lunch, or after school.

Because student attendance is vital to a student’s success, we strongly discourage parents/guardians from taking students out of class during the school year. In the unlikely event that a student must be out of town when school is in session, the student should obtain and complete one of the following forms. If a pre-approved absence form or independent study contract is not on file before your student’s absence you may receive a truancy letter.

For absences for 1-4 days: Pre-Approved Absences Form

• Must be approved before absence by the principal/vice-principal.
• Approval is based on the  students' attendance and grades.
• This form is available in the attendance office.

For absences of 3-15 days: Independent Study Contract (IS)

Please email Neeloo Brown to request an Independent Study Contract. This must be completed at least two weeks before the planned absences.

• This form can only be picked up in the attendance office.
• The independent Study contract provides space for teachers to write assignments for each class and must be signed by all teachers, the parents, the student and the principal before the students leave town.
• Upon returning to school, the student must bring all assigned work to the attendance office before going to class.

Parents/guardians can now Self Report Absences in Synergy. This is an additional option alongside calling the attendance office, and both methods are available. Parents can submit attendance for the day up until 3:30PM. 

Additionally, Synergy has released a new mobile app for ParentVUE and StudentVUE. Please download the “ParentVUE (New)” and “StudentVUE (New)” apps on your mobile device. The older version will be discontinued in the Spring 2026.

To use this feature, parents can log into their Synergy ParentVUE account and follow these steps:

• Click the Report Absence button for the student you are submitting attendance for.

• Select a start date and end date for the absence, and choose the reason from the drop down menu.

This can also be done through the ParentVue app on your mobile device.  You will follow the same directions as if you were logging into a computer to complete these steps. Please contact the PMS attendance office if you have any questions.
