Supervised (NOT at-home) rapid antigen testing is now acceptable to screen for COVID-19 in order to return to school after having symptoms.
The California Department of Public Health (CDPH)
recently announced that supervised rapid antigen testing is now acceptable to clear students to return to school after having had symptoms of COVID-19, provided that the symptoms have improved significantly before returning to school.
SYMPTOMS OF COVID-19 include: fever, runny nose, congestion, cough, difficulty breathing, severe headache, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, unexplained fatigue, and/or unexplained muscle or body aches. Please notify your school site immediately if your student develops any of these symptoms.
New PUSD Testing Site
PUSD Pandemic Services will soon be holding drop-in rapid antigen testing clinics for symptomatic students and staff (start date to be announced, tentatively the week following Thanksgiving). These clinics will also be open to PUSD students and staff who want to be tested even if not experiencing symptoms. Hours will vary, and the testing site will be closed on school holidays. When available, the most current schedule and location will be posted on the PUSD COVID-19 website.
To test at the PUSD testing site, please register in advance at Primary.Health so that you can receive results via email and text, usually within an hour of taking a test. Note: If you have already registered with Primary Health (once per student), do NOT repeat this step.
Before the new testing site is open, if you wish to get a rapid antigen test, please contact your healthcare provider or view this testing tips flyer.
NO AT-HOME rapid antigen tests will be accepted to clear a student with symptoms to return to school.
