PMS Panther Community,
We wish all of our students, staff, and families much health and happiness during the summer weeks. I hope you can rest and rejuvenate, and at the same time continue to follow social distancing mandates from local, regional, and federal authorities.
Congratulations to our Promoting 8th Graders!
Last night, we had our remote Promotion Ceremony honoring our 8th graders who are promoting onto Amador Valley High School, Foothill High School, or whatever fortunate school they attend. While the event was live-streamed last night, starting at noon today, May 29, the same link will function as an “on demand” video. This link will function for two weeks. Afterwards, we will replace the link with a MP4 video file. To view all of the content relating to our Promotion Ceremony, click here.
I must apologize for an oversight in our program from last night. We inadvertently omitted our Science Bowl Club from the list of PMS clubs. Here is a short description of the Science Bowl Club. The students and teacher facilitator, Mr. Andy Su, have worked hard all year practicing and competing (and excelling) in competitions.
Science bowl is an after school club in which students train for the regional Science Bowl competition in January. Students choose one of 3 specialty areas(life science, earth science, physical science) and study those areas in depth, becoming prepared to answer questions in the area of their specialty. This year, our science bowl team won 3rd place in the regional competition.
Yearbooks Update
Our yearbook company had to close their printing facilities during the pandemic. Even though they opened up weeks ago, it has caused delays in printing and delivery. Yearbooks are schedule to be delivered to us by the end of June. We will devise of a practical and safe way to distribute the yearbooks when it is feasible. An exact plan will be communicated in a future email. Sorry for the vagueness, but the distribution plan will depend on the status of our social distancing mandates from local authorities and agencies.
What will school look like in August?
A community task force made up of different stakeholders will be meeting weekly this summer (they have already had two meetings) to collaborate and consider all of the latest recommendations and models of school that we have at our disposal. This group will make a recommendation to our leaders and governing Board. Check your emails during the summer for any updates. We encourage you to share your voice by taking this Parent Survey that will go directly to our PUSD leadership.
It is safe to say that we will have some element of social distancing, but to what degree is yet to be determined. Our traditional walk-through registration will now be completely on-line to help us social distance. Please note the important dates for the new 2020-2021 school year below.
- July 30 - Online registration window opens - Details will be sent via email
