Important Update: School Dismissals to Begin Monday

I am writing you in regard to school on Monday. Our original plan was to bring students to their schools on Monday; However, a few things have happened since Friday midday that have shifted our thinking.
  1. Late in the day on Friday, the City of Pleasanton announced the closure of non-essential facilities due to the COVID-19 situation, including our joint use gyms at the middle schools. While we could have continued using them during the school day, our goal has been to align the efforts between organizations to reduce confusion.
  2. By the end of the day on Saturday, a slew of California districts dismissed their schools as of Monday (3/16), again introducing potential confusion.
  3. As of today, the number of COVID-19 cases in Alameda and Contra Costa counties have increased, including cases that are the result of community spread.
Consequently, we will begin school dismissals on Monday, instead of Tuesday as planned. I have attached a letter that provides additional details. Please review it carefully.
In the days and weeks ahead, please feel free to reach out to your school(s) for specific direction relating to student learning and support. Thank you for your help and support as we work through this challenging and complex situation together.
